Job Title: Wildlife and Protected Areas Manager Organisation: World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Duty Station: Kasese, Uganda Reports to: Forests and Biodiversity Coordinator About the Company: The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the largest independent conservation organizations in the world. We are an international NGO committed to environmental protection active in almost 100 countries. WWF has a growing conservation Programme in the Republic of Uganda. WWF Uganda Country Office (WWF UCO) works with central and local government agencies, private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) and the local communities to implement its various conservation programmes on Energy and Climate, Forestry and Wildlife, and Freshwater in Uganda.
* **Planning and Implementation:** Develop and implement conservation strategies, action plans, and monitoring protocols for biodiversity conservation projects. * **Management and Coordination:** Oversee the management and coordination of field teams, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation. * **Supervision and Monitoring:** Supervise field activities, ensure compliance with regulations, and monitor project progress and impact.
Promote and support establishment of sustainable financing mechanisms (through public-private partnerships) for efficient management of priority Protected Areas. Support development and implementation of comprehensive Human-Wildlife Conflict Management Plans for priority Protected Areas. Support development and implementation of flagship Species Management Plans. Provide technical leadership in planning, management, and implementation of biodiversity conservation and management activities under the WWF UCO Forest and Biodiversity Program. Undertake routine monitoring and evaluation of ongoing biodiversity conservation and management activities to track progress, document lessons, and assess their impacts on livelihoods of target communities and delivery of overall UCO conservation goals. Document case studies and share information on biodiversity conservation and management best practices and lessons learned with local partners and the general public.

* **Program Coordinator:
The program coordinator will play a key role in supporting the research team in planning, designing, and implementing targeted research studies. The program coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the research is aligned with the overall program goals and objectives. They will also be responsible for managing the research budget and ensuring that the research is conducted ethically and responsibly.
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a global conservation organization with a strong focus on biodiversity conservation. WCS works with various partners, including the WWF UCO SMT, to implement conservation programs and projects. WCS provides technical expertise and support to the WWF UCO SMT on strategic biodiversity conservation and management issues.
A Bachelors Degree in Wildlife Ecology and or Management Training in Project Planning and Management is desirable Knowledge and experience in interventions aimed at curbing wildlife crimes is a must At least 7 years of professional experience implementing projects in biodiversity conservation and management work. Specific work experience in the Albertine Graben would be an added advantage. Previous work experience or engagement with relevant government agencies is an added advantage. Knowledge and experience using key conservation technologies for example but not limited to GIS, SMART, earth ranger, drone technology, wildlife camera traps etc. Experience in working with civil society organizations and the private sector is an added advantage
